The Unfolding Of Our Culture/Society . . .

How do these people stay famous? How do they get time and space? Why don't we spend MORE time focusing on people who do great things - every day - and really try to raise the bar of who we are as people and who work - tirelessly - to build up themselves, their communities and our nation and world as a whole? Who do we blame? These two? The Insider? Me for watching? Me for sharing? Ugh.

I feel a long, holiday-focused non-tirade coming! SOON!

Domestic Abusers are Losers . . .

This video is not really "funny" but I had to laugh with and cheer for this woman telling Chris Brown what so many of us would really like to.

I'm sort of shocked that people (especially women) still want to have their photos taken with him or that people would insist he is "still the man." And - while I'm prattling - STILL? - The only thing I know about him is that he can dance like Michael Jackson and his music was the score of one of the greatest YouTube (and worst wedding) moments of all time.

THANK YOU, young lady on the island of Manhattan, for getting your feelings for Chris Brown off your chest.

A word to the wise for the rest of you . . . love the women in your life. It's the right thing to do!

Things I Love . . .

This is Niagara. My favorite painting in the whole, wide world. It hangs in the permanent collection of The Corcoran.

Random Snippets . . .

I've decided to just give in to some of my more random "urges" lately. While that doesn't mean maxing out my credit card on on-line porn (again - argh) it does man carrying around a note pad and a pen at just about all times for a very simple reason.

No. Not bettering myself. Not keeping track of my to-do list. Not making my "correspondence" a wee bit easier on the day to day. Not even using the note pad to as a way of gathering clues to solve the latest Scooby mystery I'm involved trying to solve while cruising around in my windowless van. Nope. The note pad is to keep track of random quotes and snippets from life as I intersect it.

Literally - just "stuff" that I hear or see or read. It could be on a web site including a Facebook status. It could be a Tweet. It could be an e-mail or the opening sentence of an article in GQ. It might be the angry outburst of a co-worker who had their unattended Starbucks coffee stolen from the brewing machine in the kitchen. It is just "stuff" that amuses me.

Here, in no particular order, are twenty things I heard in the last week that made me happy. I will not give any context, citation or color because - to be honest - I am not keeping track of that crap myself. I only write down the snippets.

1 - "Ignore tradition. More over, make a new one."
2 - "Just put the f*ck@ng thing on my desk and walk away. It is not even that hard."
3 - "That's what I said, slick."
4 - "Conspiracy theories are born out of confusion, chaos and fear - nothing any darker or more sinister than that."
5 - "Inspiration is free."
6 - "Buy two get one free."
7 - "I'm not so sure that is what was intended but go with it if you have to."
8 - "Red"
9 - "Blend for three minutes or until hardened peaks form."
10 -"His repeated homophobic slurs were certainly his ultimate undoing."
11 - "I'm just really stressed about the bake sale. Okay?"
12 - "Send it to my Jews. We'll look it over."
13 - "Try not to confuse his confidence with arrogance."
14 - "Go. Now. Do."
15 - "These people are all concerned with where you have been. The only thing that matters is where you are going."
16 - "Change is always necessary."
17 - "Yoga IS a lifestyle change."
18 - "There are no second impressions or third chances that actually change opinions."
19 -"Weakness is petty, small and naive."
20 - "We sometimes do bad things for good reasons, I suppose."

Welcome to The Crack of Sean . . .

I'm over here now.

I appreciate everyone who is joining me from my previous blog (still archived here for anyone that wants to read alllllll about my gastric bypass surgery and the 2 1/2 years that followed (as well as several stories about life before surgery)) and any new readers as well.

I will, in the interest of full rambling, still probably talk about my life post surgery (weight loss struggles, trying to get fit, looking good FINALLY in my little black dress, my dream of having my moobs surgically removed, etc.) but I won't just be talking about weight anymore.

Nope. I'm going to talk about life, love, politics, socio-economics (no, not really), religion, pop culture and whatever else is on my mind. Come to think of it - why AM I claiming this is a new blog anyway?!?!

No - seriously - I HOPE that this blog will be as much fun and therapy for me as my old blog and I look forward to not feeling like I have to be "polite" all the time (he he he)!

Regardless - I am going to see if I can sharpen my wit, humor, maturity and writing skills without feeling like everything has to at least SORT of tie back to my weight or where that weight has been - or is going.

Life is good! And if it is not - I'm going to blog allllllll about it!
